Have a Medical Emergency?
Program, a unique and essential service enabling members and their immediate families to
obtain appointments with University of Miami affiliated physicians.
Please follow these procedures:
Patients should always obtain copies of their CAT or PET Scans, MRI’s x-rays and lab
reports.
Unfortunately, since many members are unaware of this program we are often contacted for
help after the patient has exhausted all other avenues. We can possibly provide better
assistance and more timely medical care if the VIP program is made use of early. Of course,
we are always willing to provide second opinions.
If you need transportation for an appointment at UM/Sylvester, you can have a van take you
to Miami from the Deerfield Office. You need to call the Transportation Unit at 305-243-
5285. The van will take the patient and one other person. The cost of this service is $20.

- Patients of their representatives should call one of the four advocates listed below.
They may not call the UM personnel themselves.
- The patient must provide the advocate with insurance information and details
- The advocate will relay the information to the UM representative who will then contact
the patient and an appointment will be made with the appropriate physician.
