Bellaggio Cancer Research Unit

I have always thought that in my lifetime I would love to do something of
great importance not only for my friends and loved ones, but for all the
world.
Being that I am not a scientist, I knew that I, Beth Cohen, would never find
the cure for Cancer. But I thought perhaps I could contribute to the funds that
would allow those who are qualified to find the scientific key that will unlock
the secret that is the cure.
As breast cancer claimed my mother’s life at the early age of 55, as well as
her mother’s at 50, I am sure this was the motivation that led me to
Papanicolaou.
Therefore some five years ago, I became involved with The Papanicolaou
Corps for Cancer Research at the very inception of our own Bellaggio Unit
for Cancer Research.
Perhaps my desires of “greatness” are shared by many others. Perhaps
even by the late Emily Marie Maag of Miami Beach.
Twenty five years ago, Mrs. Maag quite possibly had those same thoughts,
and in her wisdom, put aside $10,000 in a fund earmarked for Cancer
Research.
Unfortunately, this past October Mrs. Maag passed away at the age of 92. I
did not know her personally. The news of her death came to my attention
through her widower, Mr. Gustav A. Maag.
In March, Mr. Maag informed me of the arrangement that Emily had made
25 years ago, and proceeded to carry out her wishes by sending the
Bellaggio Unit a check in the amount of $26,058.01.
Although Emily Marie Maag was not a scientist…..who knows, perhaps
these funds WILL make a difference in the future of many who never knew
her.
We ALL can make a difference. We ALL can either donate monies now, or
make pre-arrangements for funds to be set aside for Papanicolaou Cancer
Research.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
